Wayland A. Sauer, of Fayetteville, formerly of Houston, passed away on May 15, 2011, at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
Wayland was born on August 16, 1922, to Conrad L. Sauer, Sr. and Mary Weiman in Houston, Texas. Wayland was a retired lineman and supervisor for Houston Light and Power. Wayland served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1941-1945. He also enjoyed being a cattleman, rancher, as well as being a Mason.
Wayland is survived by two daughters; Shirley Scully and husband Calvin of Fayetteville, Amanda Bain and husband Tres of San Antonio; one son, Lewis Gunnels and wife Pat of Madisonville; brother, Conrad L. (Frit) Sauer Jr. and wife Joan of Blanco; sister-in-law Gerry Sauer of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Ronny Beard and wife Joann, Jon Beard, Jason Scully, Daniel Scully, Teresa Creighton and husband Travis, Joshua Bain, Jacob Bain along with six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julia, a brother Herman, a sister Georgia and an infant baby sister.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday May 17, 2011, from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday May 18, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 8010 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #240 in Fayetteville.
