Services for Vivian Caroline Taylor, 90, of Weimar, are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange, Texas, with Pastor Jason Kaspar officiating. Interment will follow at Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Taylor passed away January 12, 2024, in Houston, Texas.
Vivian was born July 21, 1933, to Roland Froehlich and Alma (Teinert) Froehlich in La Grange, Texas. She was baptized in August of 1933 and confirmed in April of 1946. She married Frank Taylor on September 23, 1950.
Vivian was very active in her community. She was a founding member of the Wendish Society, and she was a member of the Mt Calvary Church. Vivian had many hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, canning, gardening, playing dominoes, checkers, puzzles, word puzzles, genealogy, and reading. She loved books and newspapers. She was usually surrounded by books and newspapers and liked to stay up to date on current events. She was always busy around the house. She enjoyed going hunting with her husband, spending time with her kids, and with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Vivian liked to travel. She spent time traveling in Europe, Germany, and Australia.
Vivian is survived by her loving family. Including, son and daughter-in-law, Stuart & Nancy Taylor of Columbus, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Bronwyn & Mark Griffith of Argyle, Texas and DeLayne Allen of Weimar, Texas; sister Marian Appelt; brother and sister-in-law, Wallace & Mildred Froehlich; grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Laurie Taylor-Hooper, Daniel Caleb Allen, Dee H. Taylor Allen, Ashley Griffith-Hardin; great-grandchildren, Crit Hooper, Kinley Hooper, Cassandra Hardin, Dalton Hardin, Kennedy Daniel Allen, Aubrey Jane Allen, Christopher Thomas Allen, Reagan Claire Allen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and loved ones.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Alma; her husband, Frank; brother-in-law, Alfred Appelt; and a nephew, Byron Appelt.
Acting as pallbearers will be Crit Hooper, Matthew Taylor, William Froehlich, Terry Hausenfluck, Jon Appelt, and Jason Appelt.
The family request Memorial contributions be made to the The Texas Wendish Society, texaswendish.org, or the Charity of your choice in her name.
