Scholastica Prihoda

Scholastica V. Prihoda, age 81 of Fresno, Texas passed away October 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5:00-6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Manvel, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Manvel, Texas. Interment will be at 3:30 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ellinger, Texas.

Scholastica was born on April 9,1938 in La Grange, Texas to Joseph F Kolodejcak and Annie Muras Kolodejcak. She married Lebert Prihoda on October 19, 1957 in Houston, Texas. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manvel, Texas, KJZT and KJT.

She spent a lot of time saying rosarys in adoration in the chapel at Sacred Heart and made rosarys for the rosary guild that sent rosarys to missions. She enjoyed making peanut brittle and molasses cookies for family and friends during the holidays. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and building puzzles. She also enjoyed reading and visiting with grandkids and great grandkids.

Scholastica is survived by daughter Susan Jurek and husband Jeffery of Arcola, son Mark Prihoda and wife Robin of Alvin; grandchildren Kevin and wife Lissa, Nicole, Bethany, Gabrielle and Madeline Jurek, Susan Bearden and Charlene Hernandez; great-grandchildren Emily Jurek, James Bearden, Adrianna and Victoria Hernandez, Isaac and Isaah Williams, Delilah Thompson and Dexter Thompson; sister-in-law Gladys Polasek of La Grange; sister-in-law Lillie Prihoda of Freeport; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Scholastica was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Tina Marie, brother Jerome Kolodejcak and sister Margaret Valis.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Church in Manvel, Texas, Vitas Hospice, or the charity of one’s choice.
