ROY GENE KOEHL
A visitation for Roy Gene Koehl, 71 of Fayetteville will be held from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange with a prayer service being held at 7:30. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January, 25, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Interment will follow in the Rutersville Cemetery.
Roy was born May 7, 1945 in La Grange, Texas to Leroy and Bernice Ahlschlager Koehl. He graduated from Fayetteville High School. He married Marilyn Mueller on August 23, 1964 in Rutersville. He worked as a field foreman for Lehigh-Hanson, and after retirement worked for the Giddings Livestock Auction.
Roy was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, Fayette County Fair Association and the Fayette County Jr. Livestock Show. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, his cattle, and his sheep.
Roy is survived by his wife of 52 years Marilyn Koehl of Fayetteville.
1 son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Connie Koehl of Waxahachie, Tx. 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law: Cheryl and Randy Otto of Fayetteville, and Shannon Hemmitt and her special friend, Jacoby Hill of La Grange. 1 brother and sister-in-law: Donnie and Elaine Koehl of Fayetteville. 1 sister and brother-in-law: Audrey and James Krenek of New Ulm, and 1 brother-in-law and sister-in-law:Roy and Diane Mueller of La Grange.
7 grandchildren: Brittani Otto, Brandon Otto, Brock Otto, Payton Hemmitt. Charles Otto, Stormy Sparkman-Martin, and Dusty Sparkman. 4 great grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife’s parents;Melvin and Mildred Mueller.
