Rose Mary Shimek (82), was born in Hostyn, Texas on September 28, 1938 to John Anton Cernoch and Lillie Kana Cernoch. Rose Mary married Melvin Daniel Shimek on October 14, 1956.
Rose Mary was known for her love of children. She was a housewife and raised her five children while babysitting many others and taking care of children at church. She also loved embroidering, puzzles including word search puzzles, playing dominoes and bingo, gardening and her animals; her dachshund Tinkerbell, her bird Baby and her cat Garfield. Rose Mary also loved church picnics, canning vegetables, making homemade noodles and farming.
Rose Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, John C. Cernoch.
She is survived by her five children, Shirley Ann Jahn and fiancé Ruben Rodriguez, Doris Marie Cernosek and husband David, Daniel Melvin Shimek and Mary Harrell, David Wayne Shimek and wife Connie, Sherri Lynn Cervantez and husband Hector all of Fayette County, grandchildren Jason Jurica, Adam Cernosek, Faydra Grimm (Philip), Laura Delin (Bryce), Victoria Taylor (Jay), Skyler Shimek (Ashley), Katie Rustin (Kyle), Alexandra Shimek, Joshua Cervantez, Mitchell Cervantez, four great grand children Peyton and Aubrey Grimm, Jackson Delin, and Azaria Shimek along with numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2020 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family visitation will be from 5-6PM, open for visitors from 6-8PM with a rosary at 7PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11AM at Hostyn Catholic Church in Hostyn.
Pallbearers include Joshua and Mitchell Cervantez, Philip Grimm, Skyler Shimek, Adam Cernosek, Bryce Delin, Jay Taylor, Kyle Rustin and Arnold Shimek and honorary pallbearers JR Cernoch and Jason Jurica. Memorial contributions can be made to Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter (240 Svoboda Lane ~ La Grange, Texas 78945)
or a charity of one’s choice.
