Robert W. (Bob) Browning of La Grange, formerly of Brenham, died Saturday, June 20, 2009. He was born on January 6, 1917 in New York City. He was the only child of Harry and Dorothy Browning. Bob was raised in New Orleans, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Dawna Smith, in 1937. He attended Louisiana State University and spent his 42 year career in sales and sales management in the health care field, where he was well known for his jokes and story telling. Bob and Dawna lived in many parts of the United States and upon retiring Bob became a long time Lion Tail Twister and hospital volunteer.

Bob served as a medic in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Bob Browning is survived by daughter, Barbara Lange and her husband, Norwood, of Brenham; daughter, Beth Malek of Houston; grandson, Mark Lange and his wife Renna, of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughter, Lyndi Lange of Raleigh, North Carolina; granddaughter, Nicole Lewis and her husband Gerald of Houston; great-grandson, Joshua Lange and great-granddaughter, Haley Lange of Las Vegas; and great-great-granddaughters, Ashley and Megan Lewis of Houston.

Bob Browning was preceded in death by his wife Dawna and one grandson.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in La Grange with Pastor Daryl Hay officiating. In lieu of flowers, Bob asked that contributions be made to the St. James Memorial Fund.
