Dr. Nancy Lee Werst of La Grange, Texas passed away on April 9, 2013 after a brief illness. Nancy was born to Vern and Gwendolyn Gross in Archie, Missouri on August 1, 1932.
Nancy graduated from the University of Missouri in 1954. She married Everett A. Werst in June of 1954. Nancy and Everett had three children: Susan Nanette, John Robert, and Ruth Ellen.
Nancy completed her Ph.D. in Adult and Higher Education from M.U. and went on to serve as the Dean of Students at several colleges in Missouri, Virginia, and Arkansas.
Nancy was a lifelong traveler and after her retirement, she served for two years as a missionary in Amman, Jordan.
Nancy loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Everett (1968). She is survived by her daughter Susan Rainier of Davis, CA., son John Werst of Keizer, OR (Deborah) and daughter, Ruth Partridge (Larry) and her brothers Bob Gross and Ken Gross. She is also survived by six grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
A graveside ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery in Springfield, MO and a Ceremony of Remembrance will take place at the 1st Baptist Church in Salem, OR.
Memorials can be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley in La Grange in her honor.
