Monroe Robert Behrens

Visitation for Monroe Robert Behrens is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.  Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, March 3 at 1:00 pm also at the funeral home with interment to follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Plum.

Monroe was born in La Grange on July 31, 1948 to Alvin G. Behrens and Lena Helen (Kirchoffer) Behrens.  He married Betty Schmidt in 1990 and they resided in La Grange.  Monroe worked his whole life as a large equipment operator / mechanic in the oil field industry.  He was a loving husband, father and brother. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Behrens;  son, Burton (Eugenia) Behrens of Columbus;  sister, Dorothy (Dale) Witt; stepchildren, Stewart Schmidt, Tresa (Joe) Keaton, Sandy (Curtis) Shumard; grandchildren, Codie (Natalie) Behrens, Heather (Bubba) Woolard; step grandchildren, Katie (Kyle) McGuire, Clinton Keaton (Kayla Spence), Luke, Travis and Jesse; great grandchildren, Khloe, Kenslie, Callie, Korbin, Haisley; step great grandchildren, Rush, Jay, Kiley, Mason, Lane and Liam and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin G. Behrens and Lena Helen (Kirchoffer) Behrens; three brothers, Alvin Behrens, Jr., Louie Behrens, and Lee Behrens; three sisters, Mildred Buscha, Gladys Simek and Edna Leschper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the family to help with funeral expenses, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
