Mildred Otto

Mildred Mary Lee Light Otto, born on June 22, 1925 , Texas entered heaven on August 6, 2019 at her home in La Grange at the age of 94.

Mildred is predeceased by her husband of 70 years Marvin Otto, her brother Wilbert Light and sister Ida Bell Rauch. Mildred “Mamaw” is lovingly remembered by her daughter Bonnie Friedrich,,and son Ronney Otto, wife Linda. She is also remembered by grandchildren Kathy Estes, Tina Sennikoff, Parker Friedrich, Brenda Cassidy, Yalanda Robinson, Yvonne Leach, Tracey Calvert, sister-in-law Florence Otto and 10 nieces and nephews. Mildred was blessed with 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Mildred was born to Eddie Lee and Ida Mertz Light in Carmine and was baptized in the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in 1934. She married Marvin Lee “Bobby” Otto on December 24, 1942 and graduated from La Grange High School in May, 1943. Mildred was an active room mother for her children for 13 years. She organized the Rutersville Home Demonstration Club and served in all officer positions during her tenure. Mildred helped to organize the La Grange Ladies Day Out Group. Mildred also worked in retail positions for Carnation Milk, Harris & Gaertner Clothing, Hermes Drug Store, and as dental assistant to Dr. Garret Ray.

Mildred’s greatest love was dancing with her husband as members of several dance clubs in La Grange, Swiss Alp and Schulenburg.

Funeral services will be held at Fayette Memorial on Monday, August 12 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon August 11 for friends from 2-6 pm with the family present from 5-6pm.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange, Texas or to the charity of one’s choice..
