Mildred Lorenz

d. May 16, 2017

Mildred Ruth (Lehmann) Lorenz of Warda, Texas, was called to her heavenly home

Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in Tomball, Texas.

Mildred was born in Warda, Texas, June 5, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Hulda (Krakosky)

Lehmann.  She was baptized on  June 20, 1926 by Pastor Buchschacher and confirmed on

April 2, 1939 by Pastor Paul Eifert at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Warda, Texas.

Mildred was the third of four daughters.  She was raised on the farm and did her share of hard work; pulling cotton, working in the fields, feeding and milking the cows.

She married Anton Lorenz on February 27, 1949 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Warda, Texas.  At that time, they moved to Houston, Texas. She worked for The Light Company until she retired to raise her family. In later years, she worked for Grant’s and Foley’s Department Stores.  In 1990, she and Anton retired and moved back to Warda, Texas.  Here they truly lived their golden years on their farm, in this wonderful community of family and friends.

Mildred was a loving and kind lady who was all about faith, family, and friends.  She loved having her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughters visit.  There are many fond memories of baking cookies, dying Easter eggs, Easter egg hunts, and Christmas gatherings at the farm.  We will remember her as the sweetest “Nanny” anyone could ask for.  One of her favorite scripture verses which she quoted quite often was, “This is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Mildred was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, the Altar Guild, the LWML, and the Sewing Circle. She also worked with braille in Giddings.  Her hobbies included canning fruits and vegetables, quilting, baking wonderful pecan pies and cookies, and family history.

She is survived by her children, Margie Murray and Wesley Lorenz and wife Sherri; grandchildren, Kimberly Stockton and husband Michael and Christopher Lorenz; great granddaughters, Kate, Reese, and Bailey Stockton; sister, Ruby Bohot and husband Alfred; sisters-in-law, Adelia Lorenz, Martha Lorenz, Burnies Richter and husband Lawrence, and Lucille Lorenz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anton; twin infant sons Glen and Gary; sisters, Lorine Lehmann and husband Arthur and Bernice Mahlmann and husband Bill;

sister’s-in-law, Alma Menzel and husband Alfred, Leona Krakosky and husband Milton;

brother’s-in-law,Erwin Lorenz, Rudolf Lorenz, and Ewald Lorenz.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home, La Grange, Texas.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 FM 1482, Warda, Texas. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
