Funeral services for Marilyn Koehl are scheduled for Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm. at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, with interment following at the Rutersville Cemetery. Marilyn will lie in state, Friday, December 20th from 2 pm to 5 pm at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, December 21st with family receiving friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 p.m.

Marilyn Koehl, 77 of Fayetteville, passed away on December 16, 2024, after battling Alzheimer's. She was born in La Grange on October 24, 1947, to Melvin and Mildred (Weigelt) Mueller. She married Roy Koehl in Rutersville on August 23, 1964, and they were married 52 years until Roy's passing in 2017. Marilyn was the biggest stock show supporter traveling many miles across Texas with her kids and grandkids. She was a 4-H Adult Leader for over 20 years serving as a project leader and club manager.

She also served on the Fayette County Fair Sheep Show committee and even exhibited sheep with her family at the local fairs for many years. Marilyn loved cats, especially her beloved, Punky, the Gameshow Network and shopping. She enjoyed her weekly trips to Wal Mart and H-E-B, where you would find her catching up with friends down every aisle. More than anything, she loved her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great children, along with nieces and nephews and friends.

Marilyn's grandsons, grandson-in-laws and son-in-law will be honoring her by serving as pallbearers, Brock, Brandon, Charles, Payton, Keith, Jacoby, Will and Jeremy.

Marilyn is survived by her three children, Mark Koehl and wife Connie of Waxahachie, Cheryl Otto and husband Randy of Fayetteville, and Shannon Hemmitt and special friend, Jacoby Hill of La Grange; one brother, Roy Mueller and wife Diane of La Grange; in-laws, Donnie Koehl and wife Elaine of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Brittani Benedict and husband Keith, Brandon Otto and wife Katy, Brock Otto and wife Valerie, Payton Hemmitt, Charles Otto and wife Sarah, Stormy Sparkman-Martin and husband Jeremy, and Dusty Marks and husband Will; great grandchildren, Brynn and Kaden, Brigham and Hagger, Brant, Sarah and husband, Justin, Charli, Hollis and Ezra, Truitt, Myles and Frankie Ray; Great-great granddaughter, Juliet; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Roy; parents, Melvin and Mildred Mueller; in-laws, Leroy and Bernice Koehl and Audrey and James Krenek.

Family requests memorial donation be made to the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (240 Svoboda Lane, La Grange, Texas 78945) or to Hospice Brazos Valley (1048 N Jefferson St., La Grange, Texas 78945).
