Marie Julia Reiss Ivy, 91, of West Point, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
Marie was born in Fayette County, Texas on October 25, 1922, the daughter of Fred Reiss and Annie (Pospisil) Reiss. She married Ross C. Ivy on June 21, 1941 in Plum.
Marie was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and the retired teacher’s association. She loved gardening and was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law; Elaine and Gerald Buchta of Lake Texoma; daughter-in-law, Shirley Ivy of Angleton; son and daughter-in-law Fred and Cynthia Ivy of Hungerford; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Eleanora Reiss of West Point; 16 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross C. Ivy; two sons, Willie Lynn and Anthony Ross Ivy; great-grandson, Kent David Buchta and a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Clarence Brothers.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, with the family receiving guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum on Wednesday February 12 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Plum.
