Marie Hensel, 89, died December 3, 2021, at her home in La Grange.
Funeral services are set for December 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St John Lutheran Church in
Rutersville, with burial in the Williams Creek Cemetery.
Born on October 12, 1932, in Brenham, she was the daughter of Lad and Martha (Dusek) Janes.
She married Ernest “Joy” Hensel on June 8, 1952, in Wesley, TX. She was a secretary for the
State Department of Health and Human Services, and retired in June 1988, to live out her life
on the farm. She was a member of the St John Lutheran Church and served on the Senior
Citizen’s board. She also organized domino games for many of the senior citizens.
Survivors include son, Russell J Hensel, and wife Kathy, and daughter, Sandra J Hensel, all of La
Grange; five grandsons, Mike Hensel and wife, April, Jim Hensel and wife Michelle, Greg Rosier
and wife April, Nathan and Alex Glaiser; and seven great grandchildren Blake, Cole, Brenna,
Camdyn, and Cade Hensel, and Reagan and Reese Rosier; one brother, Alvin “Buddy” Janes,
brother-in-law Luther Schwettmann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joy Hensel, her parents, and her sister Margaret
Schwettmann, and sister-in law Vivian Janes.
Fayette Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
