Marie Guzman

Marie Dolphine Goates Guzman, born November 29, 1947 in Simonton, Texas and entered heaven on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her home in Ellinger, Texas. Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August, 14, 2019 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, Texas with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15 at 10 a.m at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, Texas with internment to follow at Florida Chapel Cemetery.

Marie was born to Leona Patricia Rhemann Goates and George Haskell Goates. Marie loved her family immensely and had a genuine love of people as was evidenced by serving as department manager at Wal Mart for four years; which provided her the opportunity to interact with people. She absolutely enjoyed taking road trips.

Marie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Nicky Guzman, daughter Regina Guzman of Bryan, Texas, son Kenneth Wayne Guzman of Flatonia, Texas, five sisters, six grandchildren, five brothers in law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her mother Leona Patricia Rhemann Goates, her father George Haskell Goates, her sister Patsy Goates Bolin, brothers in law Bud Sumrall and Pete Gomez.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger, Texas or to The American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home, 967 East Colorado, La Grange, Texas.
