Lloyd “Bucky” Loehr, 93, of La Grange passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Bucky was born in Fayette County to Robert and Irene Loehr. He lived in La Grange his entire life and loved the family and heritage of Fayette County. Bucky found a career with the Texas Department of Transportation and worked there until retirement. In 1970, he married Aileen Wied, then in 1978 they lovingly adopted two children, May and Toby.
Bucky was extremely active in the church. First, as a Methodist youth group leader; then, as the adult Sunday School teacher at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville for 40 years. He loved animals of all kinds, vegetable gardening, bible study, western novels and movies, as well as spending time with and caring for friends and family. Bucky was known all over La Grange for his politeness and kind nature. He shared his joy of life and love of the Lord with everyone he met.
Bucky was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Aileen; parents, Robert & Irene Loehr; brother, Robert “Buddy” Loehr; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice & John Miller. He is survived by his children, May Loehr Johnson and husband Brad of Austin; Tobias “Toby” Loehr and wife Jennifer of New Braunfels; and three grandchildren, Brandon Loehr, Joshua Loehr, and Reed Johnson.
Visitation will take place at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville with interment to follow at the Rutersville Cemetery. A reception will be held in the St. John’s Fellowship Hall after interment.
Memorial donations may be made in Bucky’s name to St. John Lutheran Church, Rutersville or to a charity of one’s choice.
