Lee Roy Shoppa, 94, of La Grange, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Lee Roy was born in Wharton, Texas, on January 21, 1921, the son of Louis and Millie (Kocian) Shoppa. He married Evelyn Hrbacek on July 19, 1945, in Plum, Texas. Lee Roy served his country in the Army Air Force as a sergeant from August, 1942-February, 1946.
Lee Roy enjoyed fishing, gardening, dominoes, hunting, casino trips, Rangers and Astros baseball, and Longhorn softball.
He is survived by his son, Mike Shoppa (wife Suzie) , daughter, Shirley Schaeffer (husband John) all of La Grange. He is also survived by three grandchildren Lauri (husband Chuck) Ambrose of Keller, Texas; Dwayne (wife Abigail) Shoppa of Austin; and Erik (wife Allyson) of San Jose, California. He is also survived by four great grandchildren Emmie Ambrose, Weslie and Grayson Shoppa, and Marty Schaeffer. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Elwert Kansteiner of Austin and Emil Hrbacek of Pearland and several nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Evelyn Hrbacek Shoppa, and his sisters Earline Kansteiner and Gladys Shoppa.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 2:00 until 7:00 P. M. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 P. M. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Interment will follow in La Grange City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn or to St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange or to the charity of one’s choice.
