Lawrence Edward Roddam, age 89, passed away on March 18, 2009 at Care Inn Nursing Center. He was born on April 24, 1919 to parents Charles and Lucy (Bryant) Roddam in Orange, Texas.
He served his country by being a member of the United States Army during World War II for three and a half years. Lawrence Edward Roddam retired from a subsidiary of Brown & Root, Inc. after 32 years.
He moved to La Grange in 1979. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, Knights of Columbus, and the Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club.
Lawrence Edward Roddam is survived by his wife Helen Kainer Roddam; three step-daughters, Doris Kainer Drachenberg and her husband Don of Rosenberg, Marian Kainer Hollingsworth and her husband Judson of Lake City, Colorado, Karen Ann Kainer and her husband Jondain of Gainesville, Florida; one step-son, John Joseph Kainer and his wife Kristine of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucy (Bryant) Roddam; his first wife Dorothy Herzog Roddam and his brother Bryant Roddam.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Father Joseph Varickamackal will officiate at the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayette Public Library.
