LaVern Kathryn Kessler passed away on August 20, 2012, at her home in Waldeck, Texas, at the age of 93.
LaVern was born on December 20, 1918, in Waldeck, to Barney Albers and Emma Kraatz Albers. She was baptized on February 23, 1919 at Waldeck and was confirmed on September 6, 1931 by Rev. H. Brunotte at Carmine, with her confirmation verse being Hebrews 13:8. She was united in marriage to Louis Kessler on September 20, 1942 at Carmine.
LaVern owned and operated a country store. She loved flowers, bingo, her animals, dominoes, her friends and neighbors and especially her family.
LaVern is survived by a daughter, Carol Procell and husband Phillip of Giddings; a son, Barry Kessler and wife Suzanne of Giddings; three grandsons, Jason Kessler and wife Stacy of Giddings, Justin Kessler and wife Stacey of Giddings and Jarrett Kessler and Dusti Marburger of Giddings.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Wayne Kessler.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday August 21, 2012, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday August 22, 2012, at Waldeck Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at Waldeck Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Waldeck Lutheran Church, Waldeck Lutheran Church Improvement Fund or the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.
