Joseph Adolph Sivek, age 99, passed away on February 13, 2009 in Austin. He was born on March 20, 1909 to parents Joseph Edward Sivek, Sr. and his wife Theresa Mary (Pisklak) Sivek of La Grange.
He was retired from Exxon Mobile where he worked for many years. He served his country by being a member of the United States Army during World War II. Joseph Adolph Sivek was awarded five bronze stars for heroic and meritorious service. He participated in the Normandy Landing.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange and the Knights of Columbus. Joseph moved to Austin in 2005.
Joseph Adolph Sivek is survived by one sister, Hattie Alexander of Austin; one brother, Sylvester Sivek of La Grange and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward Sivek Sr. and Theresa Mary (Pisklak) Sivek; one sister, Adella Thomas and three brothers, Jerry, John and Paul Sivek.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Father Joseph Varickamackal will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the La Grange City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange.
