Helen Mae Erlenbusch Fowler passed away on December 30, 2010, in La Grange, Texas at the age of 99.
Helen was born in Decatur, Illinois the first child of Otto L. Erlenbusch and Bertha Alfereta Croswell.
In her early childhood the family moved to Houston, Texas.
There were two additions to the family, a sister Mazie Lou and a brother Guy Lewis.
Helen attended Cooley Elementary, Hogg Junior High and Houston Heights which later became Reagan High School. After attending a business school she worked for Humble Oil Company as a comptometer operator.
A neighbor introduced her to Ambert Y. Fowler and on St. Valentines Day February 14, 1931 they were married.
After nine years of marriage on January 18, 1940 they had their only child, a son, Guy Brian Fowler.
After thirty-seven years of marriage Ambert passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 1968 four days before his birthday August 28, at the age of fifty-seven.
Helen moved to La Grange from Houston in 1983, with her family and lived at her residence in La Grange. She became an active member at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, La Grange Garden Club and the local AARP Chapter.
Helen loved her family, grand children and great-grand children. She also enjoyed her pets and working with her plants.
She is survived by her son, Guy Brian Fowler and wife Patsy; grandson Jason Fowler and wife Jimie, their children; Trey, Madison and Emilie; grand-daughter Amanda Hunger and husband Shawn and their children, Jordyn and Cullen, and a sister Mazie Lou Burton of Austin, Texas and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Otto L Erlenbusch and Bertha Alfereta Croswell; husband Ambert Y Fowler and one brother Guy Lewis Erlenbusch.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday January 2, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday January 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange.
Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fayette County Animal Shelter of La Grange or St. Paul Lutheran Church of La Grange.
