Harvey G. Mueller, age 89, passed away on December 22, 2008 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
He was born on October 27, 1919 to parents Gerhard Mueller and Johanna (Ruether) Mueller of Rutersville, Texas. He was baptized on May 26, 1920 and confirmed on September 23, 1934. He married Erna Tietjen on January 6, 1946.
He served his country for four years in World War II as a member of the United States Army Airdrome Squadron. Three of the four years were spent serving in the Pacific.
Harvey G. Mueller was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. He served on the church council for many years and served as the chairman for six years. He was a charter member of the VFW Post 5254 of which he served as commander for five years. Harvey G. Mueller was also a charter member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau.
Harvey G. Mueller is survived by his wife, Erna (Tietjen) Mueller of La Grange; two daughters, Shirley Spacek and her husband, J. C. Spacek, Jr. of La Grange and Barbara Silvus of Austin; two granddaughters, Laura Silvus of Austin and Denise Bates and her husband, Andy of York, PA and one great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Bates of York, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard Mueller and Johanna (Ruether) Mueller; three brothers, Alton Mueller, Louis Mueller and Lee Mueller and two sisters, Linda Heinze and Viola Kern; and one son-in-law, Steve Silvus and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a number of other family members.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Reverend Karl Johnson will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the La Grange City Cemetery in La Grange.
