Erna A. Mueller passed away on October 15, 2009. Erna was born on April 21, 1919 at Rutersville to Herman and Laura (Citzler) Tietjen. On January 6, 1946, she and Harvey Mueller were married in La Grange and were blessed with two daughters. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville.
Erna is survived by her daughters, Shirley Spacek and her husband, J. C. of La Grange, and Barbara Silvus of Austin. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Laura Silvus of Austin, and Denise Bates and her husband, Andy of York, PA. One great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Bates of York, PA also survives, plus a number of other relatives.
Erna served as Sunday school secretary for over twenty years. She was a member of WELCA and the Ladies Aid Society, where she served in various capacities on the board. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and served as chairperson for one term. She was also a member of the Hermann Sons.
Erna Mueller was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey G. Mueller, in December of 2008, by her parents, two brothers, a son-in-law, a number of brother and sisters-in-laws and her parent-in-laws.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Burial will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Sunday School or the charity of one’s choice.
