Ellick E. Hribek passed away on August 11, 2010, at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, at the age of 92 years.
Ellick Hribek was born on July 7, 1918, in Smithville, Texas to John and Julie Volcik Hribek. Ellick was 23 years old when he entered service in 1941. World War II was over in 1945 and he came home to help his dad with farming of cotton and corn at Kirtley, Texas. One of Ellick’s favorite pastimes was dancing. He was always up for a polka, waltz, or a country two-step. Ellick loved children and was like a father figure to his nephews Victor and Eugene.
When he was 37 years old he moved to El Campo, TX. He was an electrician for 25 years and he retired at age 62. He continued living in El Campo until January 27th of 1998 when he entered Monument Hill nursing home and lived there for 12 ½ years.
Ellick is survived by two sisters; Evelyn Vasek, of Plum and Elsie Rauch, of Sugarland; two nephews; Eugene Holubec, of Cedar Creek and Josef Hribek, of Missouri City; three nieces; Debby Martinez and husband Frank, of Rosenberg; Patrica Balmerino and husband Bill, of Houston; and Kathryn Aguilar and husband Uvaldo, of Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Julie Hribek; two brothers; Jerry and Felix Hribek and one sister Millie Sullivan.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 13, 2010, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 400 Olive, Smithville Texas.
