Dorothy Janacek

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Marie (Janda) Janacek, 91, of La Grange, Texas is set for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, Texas. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn for immediate family only. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.  Mrs. Janacek passed from this world July 9, 2022.

Dorothy was born June 7, 1931, to Joseph Janda and Frances (Rainosek) Janda in Hostyn, Texas.  She married Edward Jerome Janacek on October 27, 1957, and they shared 35 years of marriage before his passing.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Lillian Koether; one daughter, Marie Janacek Cook and one grandchild, Edwin Cook.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth & Mary Jo Janacek of Houston, David & Jacqueline Janacek of Stafford, Tim & Rebecca Janacek of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo & Joyce Janda of Schulenburg, Arnold & Helen Janda of Schulenburg; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann & Marvin Stasny of Pearland; son-in-law, Jeff Cook; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives, loved ones and family friends.

Dorothy was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and the KJZT Altar Society.  She was an accomplished seamstress and confectioner and liked to spend her spare time volunteering at Second Chance in La Grange. She enjoyed cooking, and gardening.
