DAN SCHWERTNER
Memorial services for Daniel August Schwertner, 93, of La Grange will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at the St. Paul Evengelical Lutheran Church in La Grange, with Pastor Candis O’Meara, officiating .
Dan passed from this life January 5, 2016 in his home in La Grange.
Dan was born June 2, 1922 in Jarrell, Texas to Louis A. and Frances Karkoska Schwertner. He married Pauline Baker on May 3, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a retired ironworker.
Dan was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange, the American Legion Post 317 in Jarrell, and the Ironworkers local 135 in Texas City, Texas. Dan also loved to hunt.
Dan is survived by his wife, Pauline (Baker) Schwertner of La Grange, 2 sons, Danny Schwertner and his wife Pam, and Louis Schwertner and his wife Beth both of Sante Fe, Texas. 1 Daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Schwertner of La Grange. 2 sisters, Mary (Schwertner) Tepera, and Edie Schwertner. 1 brother, Norbert Schwertner, Grandchildren, Brandon Schwertner and his wife Lisa, Sabrina Schwertner, Stacy Schwertner, Joshua Schwertner and his wife Lisa,, and Sarah (Schwertner) Nava and her husband Sammy. Step-grandchildren, Rachel Hawkins and Jacki Riddle, Sister-in-Laws Loretta(Sims) Baker and Norma(Chudej) Baker, and numerous great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Jerry Schwertner, and 2 sisters, Hadie Schwertner, and Agnes Schwertner Jones.
