Corine Levien, age 75 of Round Top, passed away on March 22, 2011 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin.
Corine was born April 16, 1935 at Haw Creek to Herman Schulle and Paula Drawe Schulle. Right out of high school, Corine went to work for Crayton Studio in La Grange. She helped take the 1960 census and worked at La Grange Livestock Auction. In 1967 Corine went to work for La Grange State Bank and retired after 28 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton.
Corine was a member of the Fayette County Fair Association Board of Directors, The Herb Society of America, Pioneer Unit of Round Top, Round Top DYD Club, Monday Night Bowling League, North Fayette County Wildlife Association, Thyme Well Spent-Chairperson and a volunteer at the Round Top Library garden and also with the Round Top Historical Society. She also belonged to the National Gourd Society and the Texas Gourd Society. Corine was one of three members of the international herb organization who had been selected and recoginized as having contributed greatly to The Herb Society. She planned and developed many workshops where members created interesting and unusual items such as those that were sold in the Thyme Well Spent Shop at Festival Hill. Her artistic talents included making and designing herbal wreaths, ceramic pots, floral patterns for needlework and painting on wood and gourds. She served on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Fair for over 20 years and was grand marshall for the parade in 2003. Corine enjoyed country life and time with her and Cordell's combined families.
Corine is survived by her husband, Cordell Levien of Round Top, two daughters; Cheri Herbrich and husband Billy of La Grange, Sandi Pennington and husband Joe of Georgetown; brother, El Gene Schulle and wife Jean Arlys of Brenham; sister, Willa Mae Musgrove of Warrenton; step-children, Linda McCall and husband David of Gainesville, Mark Levien of Lexington, Bridget Levien and Susie Levien of Bryan; grandchildren, Jonathon and Rebecca Herbrich of La Grange, Amy and Travis Pennington of Georgetown and step-grandchildren, Eric and Emily Levien of Lexington.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday March 24, 2011, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home chapel.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday March 25, 2011, at 10:00 AM, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Warrenton. Burial will follow at Drawe Cemetery, near Warrenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Drawe Family Cemetery, St. John's Lutheran Church in Warrenton or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top.
