Carl Dement, 95, of La Grange, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Smithville. He was born December 9, 1917, in Smithville, the son of James Gilbert Dement and Josie Myrtle Jackson.
He was a member of Smithville Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the American Legion in Smithville. Carl served in the United States Army during World War II and retired as a Staff Sergeant (E-6) in 1964.
Carl married Otsie Daniels in 1940 and second wife Viola Voss in 1960.
He is survived by his daughter: Marilyn Lee of La Grange; son: Quienton Dement of Ft. Worth; sister, Shirley McKeown of Giddings; grandchildren: Louann Marrs and husband Danny, Charles Lee and wife Kim, Sheri Albin and husband Andy; great grandchildren, Gregory Marrs, Dana Marrs, Valerie Marrs, Courtney Lee, Calvin Albin, Lyndon Albin; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Otsie Daniels; second wife, Viola Voss; daughters, Lynda Carol and Carlene, sisters; Marie Capdieille, Dorothy Mikulenka and Geraldine Gay Bronson and a brother-in-law Ronnie McKeown.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday October 14, 2013, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors at this time.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday October 14, 2013 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange.
Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
