Bernice Koehl passed away September 13, 2009. Bernice was born on July 29, 1923 at Winchester to Hugo and Leona Busch Ahlschlager.
Bernice married Leroy Koehl on April 16, 1941. She worked at Baca’s Store in Fayetteville, Perry’s, Winns and Dollar General in La Grange. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville.
Bernice is survived by one daughter Audrey Krenek and husband James of Willow Springs, two sons, Roy Koehl and wife Marilyn of Fayetteville, and Donnie Koehl and wife Elaine of La Grange.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Isolde Ahlschlager of Columbus, Helen Ahlschlager of Houston, Annie Koehl of Ellinger and Bernice Gaertner of La Grange. A special aunt, Elizabeth Lorenz of Clovis, New Mexico also survives.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Pam and Lucas Orsak of Fayetteville, Stephen and Nicol Krenek of Fayetteville, Angela and Michael Schulz of Willow Springs, Cheryl and Randy Otto of Fayetteville, Mark and Connie Koehl of Angleton, Shannon and Ronald Hemmitt of Fayetteville, David and Sara Koehl of La Grange and Melissa Koehl of La Grange.
She is survived by her great-grandchildren Kelly and Kyle Orsak, Brittani, Brandon and Brock Otto, Madison Krenek and Payton Hemmitt, all of Fayetteville; McKenna and Sierra Schulz of Willow Springs and Avery Koehl of La Grange.
She is also survived by step-great grandchildren, Charles and Sarah Otto of Winnie, Stormy and Jeremy Martin of Canyon Lake, Dusty Sparkman of Houston, Alexis Hemmitt of Somerville and Cecily Schulz Like of Somerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, infant brother Leroy,and brothers Clarence, Monroe, Eugene and Curtis Ahlschlager; sister-in-law Lilie Mae Ahlschlager.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday September 15, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday September 16. 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Burial will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery.
