Bernadette Edith Janda passed away on July 22, 2010, at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, at the age of 54 years.
Bernadette Janda was born on October 20, 1955, in La Grange, Texas to Alois Janda and Edith Janacek Janda. She was a teacher for Round Top Carmine I.S.D. and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. Bernadette loved to sew Barbie clothes, photography, crocheting and knitting, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Bernadette Janda is survived by four brothers; Joe Janda and wife Mildred, of El Campo; Alois(Al) Janda and wife Barbara, of Missouri City; Ed Janda of La Grange; Patrick Janda and wife Patsy, of La Grange; and seven nieces and nephews, Bryan Janda and wife Dawn, of Friendswood; Tamara Kurtz and husband Cody, of Pflugerville; Kim Riebe and husband Keith, of Sugarland; Dana Valentino and husband John, of College Station; Jason Janda, of Katy; James Janda and wife Sara, of Alvin and Kevin Janda and wife Sarah, of Katy; as well as eight great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Edith Janda, and a sister, Margaret Janda.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 25, 2010, from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, then from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Hostyn. Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, July 26, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building Fund, or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
